The ability to ‘inscribe’ secret knowledge into objects goes back a long time, however digital technology has vastly improved this. Early inscribed items were fairly simple things like swords, with a single ‘Sequence’ inscribed into them. Modern ‘Catalysts’ can hold a set of inscriptions and allow a user to change them out as desired. The first of these were developed during the early industrial revolution, with a few earlier clockwork examples. Digital Catalysts can typically hold up to six ‘sequences’, or ‘programs’ as they tend to be called today, and a very simple update can adjust them.
